Andy Sutton suspended eight games

Posted by Talk Hockey on December 10, 2011 at 9:45 PM

After announcing that Andy Sutton had been suspended indefinitely on Thursday for his hit Alexei Ponikarovsky, Brendan Shanahan made the suspension final today and gave him eight games. Sutton has already been suspended this year for his hit on Colorado rookie Gabriel Landeskog, so that would make him a repeat offender which is the crucial reason for the long suspension.

The Oilers 36-year-old defenseman has three points and 50 penalty minutes in 16 games this season. He will be eligible to return Dec. 31 at the New York Islanders.
