Henrik Sedin plays his 535th consecutive game, breaks record

Posted on December 27, 2011 at 1:25 PM

Henrik Sedin has played his 535th consecutive game and become the new Vancouver Canucks ironman after the team's 5-3 victory over Edmonton last night. He surpassed Brendan Morrison on the list for most consecutive games played by a Canuck.

"There are always freak injuries that happen to guys. I've been very fortunate not to have the groin injuries or the hip flexors or stuff like that," Henrik said a few days ago after he tied the streak."So it's been good, knock on wood."

"It takes incredible determination and will, not just to play games, but to play at the level he does every night," Canucks coach Alain Vigneault said. "It obviously takes a very extraordinary person and it obviously takes a little bit of luck, too."
