The transition to life as a Toronto Maple Leaf could not be going any better for former Philadelphia Flyer, James van Riemsdyk. On Monday, JVR met with his former club for the first time since being traded for defenseman Luke Schenn, in the summer.
Fast-forward to today, James van Riemsdyk is celebrating a 5-2 victory with his Toronto Maple Leafs teammates, a game in which van Riemsdyk potted his team-leading eighth goal of the season.JVR's new teammates have been very impressed with his skill-set. They sould be James van Riemsdyk is the type of player that will lead these Maple Leafs to the playoffs for the first since 2004.
To be honest, I think James van Riemsdyk is just getting started. This kid was the second selection in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. The opportunity the Toronto Maple Leafs have given this kid could prove to be a franchise changing development. Now I can see James van Riemsdyk was the missing piece for the Toronto Maple Leafs, who are currently 8-5 through 13 games.
I was actually shocked when Maple Leaf management relieved Brian Burke of his General Manager duties, because I had a feeling from the beginning, James van Riemsdyk would have a positive impact in Toronto. Confidence is all this skilled youngster needed. Van Riemsdyk's 8 goals put him in sixth place in the entire National Hockey League for goals on the season. Great final move Burke.
Leafs Nation is starving for playoff hockey, and James van Riemsdyk will lead the Toronto Maple Leafs to the playoffs.
James van Riemsdyk is a "Must Start" in all fantasy hockey formats. The 6 ft 3, 211 pounder has brought an even bigger game to Toronto.
