The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired goaltender Jonathan Bernier from the Los Angeles Kings. In exchange, the Kings will recieve forward Matt Frattin, goaltender Ben Scrivens and a 2nd round draft pick.
Not sure if this trade was necessary for the Leafs, but it could end up rewarding them. I liked what I saw out of Matt Frattin last season and I was also a big Ben Scrivens fan. I wish them the best of luck in LA. It's kind of sad to have to give them both up, but, as I have said before, Bernier was a first round goaltender from the 2006 NHL draft and you should not sleep on him.
He was overshadowed in LA by Jonathan Quick but now in Toronto, he will get his chance to live up to expectations.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the Reimer vs. Bernier battle for the starting position.
