Oilers get David Perron for Paajarvi, pick

David Perron, St. Louis Blues

The Edmonton Oilers have acquired David Perron from the St. Louis Blues. Magnus Paajarvi and a second-round pick will go to STL in return.

This is a pretty even trade for both sides, at times as an Edmonton Oilers fan I saw the potential of Magnus Paajarvi, and the reason the Oilers made him a top 10 pick in the NHL entry draft. the key words there being "at times" majority of the time Paajarvi was way too soft. This is a player who failed to use his size and strength to get to the net. There is still massive potential there.

In David Perron Edmonton Oilers will see someone with a very high compete level shift after shift. as mentioned above Perron  have had injury problems in the past.  This is the price you pay to be a multi-20 guy with All-Star potential.

For as good as Paajarvi could be, the 25-year-old Perron is more of what Edmonton needs now!
