Alexander Ovechkin approaching his 400th career NHL goal

Posted on December 20, 2013 at 1:40 PM

At only 28 years old, Washington Capitals star Alexander Ovechkin is just one goal away from 400 in his career. He will get a chance to reach the milestone tonight against the Carolina Hurricanes.

"Could become sixth-fastest player in NHL history to reach 400" - Canada.com

Wayne Gretzky is the fastest player to reach 400 goals, as it took him only 436 games. Following him are, Mike Bossy (506 games), Mario Lemieux (508 games), Brett Hull (520 games) and Jari Kurri (608 games).

Assuming he plays until he's 38 years old, Ovechkin's current 399 goals put him on pace for 800+ in his career. That's pretty insane. Download the sign here!

UPDATE: Ovechkin has scored his 400th goal. Watch it here.
