Quality, not quantity. That's what this year's NHL deadline has been. There haven't been a lot of trades, but several big name players have been dealt including, Ryan Miller, Roberto Luongo, Martin St. Louis, and the latest: Marian Gaborik.
Gaborik has been traded to the Los Angeles Kings by the Columbus Blue Jackets, who will recieve forward Matt Frattin, a second round, and third round draft pick in return.
The deal will put Gaborik on his fourth team in the last five years: Minnesota, New York, Columbus, and now Los Angeles.
Gaborik has 688 points in 791 games over his NHL career.
According, to CapGeek the Columbus Blue Jackets will retain 50% of Gaborik's salary.
Great short-term move for the Los Angeles Kings, Gabby is known to be a streaky goal-scorer who can put the puck in the net with one shot. This is the type of player you want in the playoffs. A long-term fit concerns me though, because of health concerns...
