Marian Gaborik has signed a seven-year deal

Posted on June 26, 2014 at 4:20 PM

The Los Angeles Kings have inked Marian Gaborik to a seven-year extension. The financial terms weren't immediately available. Gaborik has a lengthy injury history, so signing him to a seven-year deal is a huge risk for the Kings.

Still, he sparked the Kings' offense after they acquired him from Columbus at the trade deadline and is one of the main reasons they won the Stanley Cup. They might end up regretting this move in a few years, but there's no question that they're a better team going into the 2014-15 campaign with him on board.

I had a feeling that due to the playoff success of this player a big deal would be on the table for him. Does this mean Mike Richards is expendable?

About time he fits a system... See what happens when your team gets the puck and gives it to a guy like this. Now imagine if Washington played that way for Ovechkin. Gaborik is just as lazy as Ovi that is why he didnt fit in NY or COL. Young players can do so much but when they get to about 24-25 they want their team mates to step up.
