The Washington Capitals 7-3 route of the Colorado Avalanche included an unlikely and hilarious goal by Dmitry Orlov.
The Caps defenseman came into the zone and made a smooth through-the-legs deke to beat a defender and then fired a shot on goal only to get stopped by goaltender Calvin Pickard.
After the shot, everybody on the ice except for Orlov lost sight of the puck and were trying to find it in front of the Avs net. During this time, Orlov, who had retrieved his rebound and regained control of the puck skated around the net a shot the puck into a wide open net.
On Orlov’s goal, Braden Holtby: “Houdini.”
